Monthly meeting – Palm Cove Hotel Thanks to all for attending yesterday, a great turn-out in questionable weather, Palm Cove Tavern is a great venue that we will use again next year, this time there were far more general members of the public, kids etc, .. meaning more noise, and a few mentioned that they couldn’t hear anything, so next time we will do the meeting differently, maybe move everyone onto a few less tables and introduce it all from either end,.. a few photos attached, I hope others took a few and can either send to me or Jurg, thanks.. Apologies to Adrian Love, another new member who’s first meeting was yesterday, sorry mate, I didn’t see you till after the meeting, Adrian has been to Wednesday Coffee and has purchased Grahame’s CB750 Café-racer “Caffeined”, so welcome aboard, and to Travis, Daniel & Chris I’m very pleased that Jurg was happy to accept a full Committee position as our Web-Master, his commitment to the website and the Club has been outstanding and I think the website is now used a lot more www.cmrc.org.au thanks Jurg And that brings me back to some other members being a bit more active either by taking on “Vice” positions, or as Brian suggested just committed to being available to help as and when required, help would always be appreciated, but the main Events are at our AMX Classic Bike Show in May and the two very social Monthly Meetings being June & September with the “Top of the State Custom Car & Hot-Rod Club” at their Clubrooms at Meerawa, .. as most know, this is a combined meeting at their Clubrooms where we provide a decent BBQ lunch with a few beers, soft-drinks and wine for the women all paid for by our Club. We require help with the BBQ, two people to flip burgers, onions and sausages for around 30/40 minutes,… many of our wives who aren’t members do a wonderful job of preparing all the salads, chopping up other stuff, providing plates etc, carting all this up and down the stairs, then cleaning up afterwards,.. so surely a couple of members can step up and BBQ, it’s only twice a year!!,… then we need two people to organise and run around with the Raffles, this is only 3 times a year and mostly the prizes have been pre-organised, but the number of these prizes can be increased, also to chase member donation prizes, it’s all a bit of fun, adds to these meetings and helps pay for the BBQ’s, … then someone with some Media, and Social Media ideas, this is mainly for AMX, I usually do the print media, but we are away, Eddie does Social Media, but he also may be away,.. so going forward, even helping to chase some of this, it’s not hard work,... if you are a new member we would appreciate your help as much as anyone else, thanks, we will look forward to the rush of hands, cheers. There was a bunch of other ideas and some Ride and Overnighter stuff that we intended bringing up, but the meeting was getting a bit drawn-out, so we will bring this up at the next meeting being, Saturday the 11th April at the Malanda Hotel in their beautiful timber Ball-Room, which is a bit more private with no additional public noise etc, so we can cover a bit more and everyone can hear.
